Welcome to DuBois

DuBois is a city located in Northwestern Clearfield County. The population is approximately 8,000, and encompassed by Sandy Township, the population increases to approximately 20,000 (based on 2010 census).

DuBois is proud to have a fantastic volunteer fire department, very nice baseball and softball fields that are home to many tournaments, Penn Highlands Hospital, lots of places to dine out, and other amenities of convenience.

Located in Sandy Township, about 5 minutes from the city off Route 255, is Treasure Lake. The development encompasses approximately 15 square miles and has about 2400 homes. It features tennis courts, swimming pools, two lakes (Treasure and Bimini), two golf courses, and a clubhouse. There are many activities on their calendar, including fishing tournaments, golf outings, etc. July 4th fireworks is second to none. Located off I-80, it offers convenient access to travel east or west for work, play or simply to take a ride and enjoy the fall foliage.

The area area is also blessed with several institutions of higher learning. After attending any of the high schools, and/or Jeff Tech, you can choose from Penn State University right here in DuBois, Triangle Tech, just outside of Falls Creek, Butler County Community College and Brockway Center for Arts & Technology at Brockway. These local institutions, plus IUP Punxsutawney, Lock Haven University in Clearfield, Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Clarion University in Clarion and Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, provide a wealth of choices for advanced education, to name a few. These schools not only train our high school graduates, but they also provide continuing education to help our local business owners and employees compete in the global economy. Businesses are diverse–producing glass, paper, lumber, food products, concrete, utility meters, machinery, and equipment, which are shipped to customers around the world. There is probably at least one item you use that was manufactured here–copy paper, gas utility meter, a part in your automobile, snowblower or lawn mower, beer bottles. DuBois grew from industries based on its natural resources–timber, coal, and natural gas. These industries are still important to the local economy. With the Marcellus Shale exploration, expansion is expected in the natural gas industry, and we’re located within part of that region.
